In this article I am going to be writing about a typical day that I had during the period when I had a stutter. This will include describing the emotional and mental feelings that I was experiencing at the time. I hope you enjoy the read.

I had this form of speech impediment for eighteen years, between the ages of four and twenty-two. I am pleased to let you know that I was eventually able to eradicate the stutter from my life and that I have now been fluent for the last thirteen years.

This example was from when I was aged nineteen.

7.45am

I should really get myself out of bed and into the shower as I need to leave for work in thirty minutes; the problem however is the fact that I am really tired as I have hardly slept all night. I kept worrying about going to work, worrying about stuttering at work, worrying about my colleague Craig who is always goading and laughing at me. How I would love to punch him in the mouth!

I am thinking about phoning in sick, I have done this three times in the last two months though for the same reason as today, if I continue in this vein then I will no doubt get the sack.

7.55am

I finally get out of bed and head for the shower; I really do not want to do this. Life sucks!

8.05am

I go down stairs and walk into the kitchen to get myself a quick drink. In the kitchen there is my dad and my sister. They start to talk to me, they seem so bloody happy! Am I the only one who has to struggle in this way? I say the minimum in return and head off for work.

9.00am

Here we go again; another day in the madhouse that is work. As I enter the office I make eye contact with Craig. He smirks like a lion waiting to pounce on his target. Ignore him I say to myself as I sit down at my desk. I have a quick chat with God, I ask him to help me through the day and speak to him about certain things that I have heard in the news.

This was part one of my day living with a stutter; I could go on forever but do not want to bore people. I will be writing part two shortly and the article will have the title "My Stuttering Day - Part Two" if you want to continue the read etc.
